Fencing is a year-round sport, with no set season. Therefore, we offer lessons and classes throughout the year. Because fencing at our club requires a membership, beginning fencers are encouraged to try us at a discounted rate. Introductory information can be found here.
Beyond the introductory level, membership to Escrime du Lac is required. Membership includes access to the gym and its amenities Monday through Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. During this time, all members can participate in group activities and exercises that develop footwork and blade skills, in addition to athletic conditioning. Sparring is also available nightly under the guidance of on-site coaches.
All fencing students are assigned a coach. This selection is dependent on coach availability and choice of weapon.
Private lessons are recommended for fencers who are past the introductory lessons. Fee structure is determined by the coach.
Membership fees are $85 per month, payable on the first of each month. Membership fees can be paid via check or Paypal. A discount is offered for annual payment.
An annual membership to the United States Fencing Association (USFA) is also a requirement for all fencers who use EDL facilities. Click here for more information on membership dues and other USFA requirements.
Introductory fencers have free use of any club weapon, mask, cords, jacket, chest protector, lamé (foil and sabre), glove and plastron for 5 lessons. Once the fencer joins the club as a Member, they must purchase their own equipment within one (1) month of Fencing Advisory Associates membership. Club equipment may be rented while the fencer awaits delivery of their equipment.
